Suburban Propane was born at this house at 11 Crystal Avenue in West Orange. When it was built in 1928 natural
gas was not available here. The first bottled gas system (LP Gas) was brought here from Pennsylvania and installed by Mark
Anton, then Chairman of the Board and President of Suburban Propane. This one installation paved the way for installation
into half a million homes in 18 eastern states at that time. The house is seen here in 1928 and although recognizable today,
has been remodeled.
