We need your pictures/stories.

As an author of two books on West Orange I can tell you first hand how difficult it can be to do research. The history of West Orange can not be found in any one single place. This is especially true in finding old pictures. My books hopefully have been successful in bringing some of the historic pictures and postcards to one location in terms of a book. This will make it a bit easier for future generations to research and discover West Orange history. But realistically this is only the tip of the ice berg on the work that needs to be done. I therefore want to make a public appeal to all current and former West Orange residents to submit copies of any photos that you may have. Any type of photo that shows a recognizable or identifiable West Orange location. Especially good would be if the people in the pictures can be identified. My intention is that over months and years to bring as many photos together under one roof, so to speak, to preserve the West Orange of yesterday. This doesn't have to be limited to just photos. Absolutely anything that you may have in terms of West Orange memorable would be extremely helpful. My vision is that for anyone searching for information of West Orange or their family history have a one stop clearing house for West Orange history. This will truly achieve my objective of preserving West Orange history for generations to come. I offer several items for sale on the website and these are the only items that generate revenue to offset the costs of running this website. At some point I may also add advertisements to help cover the costs. But I assure you that the time spend doing this is truly a labor of love and not a money making venture.

Our collection currently includes hundreds of vintage West Orange postcards and pictures and vintage books. We are only asking for copies of your pictures. However, if your can donate your pictures or anything else to our collection that would also help to achive my objective.

Announcing the West Orange Oral History Project

Also as important as the submission of pictures is the submission of your West Orange stories and memories. I would like to collect these and also place them all under one roof in what will be called the West Orange Oral History Project. These stories will be placed on the website and also copied and submitted to the West Orange Public Library to create a permanent record for research purposes. So please encourage anyone and especially our senior citizens to submit their stories.
